RF Skin Tightening is a noninvasive procedure to reverse the signs of aging on the skin. It is typically used to treat the face and neck. Most patients report a warm stinging sensation. During treatment, a handheld fan is utilized to provide relief. After treatment, patients feel a sunburn sensation that is relieved with a fan or a cold compress. It usually resolves itself in about an hour. Immediately following treatment, the skin will have an even red appearance like a sunburn. Over the next 12-24 hours the redness fades and a grid-like pattern will appear. This is normal and to be expected. It will be most noticeable in the first 1-3 days after treatment. It will resolve itself in about 7 days. You will also get a light exfoliation and skin will be smoother to the touch. The skin will be sensitive to any cleanser or moisturizer for the first 12 hours after treatment. Nothing at all should be applied to the skin during that time. After 12 hours you may use a mild, non-medicated cleanser and plain moisturizer. Wash gently! Sunscreen may also be used 12 hours after treatment. Makeup can be applied 24 hours after treatment. We recommend using a lightweight mineral makeup that can be easily removed. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure throughout the duration of the treatments (especially within the first 7 days while the skin is exfoliating). Sun exposure too soon after may lead to pigment damage or burns. When outside, no matter the time of year, wear a physical block sunscreen and protective clothing to protect the treatment area. Yes. It is advised to discontinue any topical medications, including acne or anti-aging products for 3 days prior to treatment and leave off the treatment area for 7 days after. The skin should also be clean and free of any makeup, moisturizer, or sunscreen prior to treatment. These products will block the energy used in the treatment. Also, avoid tanning or getting a sunburn. You will get a light exfoliation and notice smoother skin about 7 days after treatment.
